A Look at What's Actually Doing the Measuring

A fitting is only as good as the equipment reading it. Here's the hardware behind the wall, and the steps we take to keep it honest against real Gulf Coast golf.

The Hardware

Cameras for the Ball, a Plate for the Club

A synchronized four-camera array tracks the ball continuously from the instant it leaves the face — speed, launch, spin, and the full curve of the flight all come from one unbroken optical read rather than a single snapshot or an estimate from a radar unit.

A pressure-mapped plate sits beneath the hitting mat, picking up exactly where you struck the ball along with dynamic loft and lie in that same instant. Run both together and a bad reading from one gets caught by the other before it ever reaches your spec card.

Three Ongoing Checks

Field Trips With Test Clubs

Fitters carry a set of clubs out to nearby courses on a fixed schedule, comparing their flight against what the room recorded for the same clubs, watching for any drift.

Mat & Plate Upkeep

Hitting surfaces and the plate get inspected regularly, since coastal air and repeated impacts can wear a reading off over the course of a season.

Automatic Agreement Checks

Camera and plate data on the same swing get compared instantly; if they don't line up, that swing gets pulled for a manual look instead of being logged as-is.

Why We Bother Holding the Climate Fixed

Clearwater already sits close to sea level, so the big density-altitude swings an inland fitting bay deals with aren't as much of an issue here. Humidity still climbs and drops through the day though, and a gust off the water can show up without much warning — holding room temperature and humidity steady takes both off the table entirely.

The payoff is a February session and an August session that are genuinely comparable, instead of one that's quietly measuring the day's weather along with your swing.
