Pressure Mat Strike Location and Dynamic Lie
A static lie board tells you where your iron sits when it's standing still. Almost nothing about a golf swing happens while the club is standing still.
Traditional lie-angle fitting leans on a board or a piece of impact tape, checked after a handful of static or semi-static swings. It's a reasonable starting point, but it measures a moment that doesn't fully exist in a real swing — the club is always moving, flexing, and rotating through impact, and none of that shows up on a board.
What "Dynamic" Actually Means Here
The pressure-mapped plate sits directly under the hitting mat and reads force distribution across its surface at the instant of contact. Combined with the four-camera optical read of the clubhead's approach, that gives us dynamic loft and dynamic lie — what the club was actually doing at impact, not what it measured sitting on a bench.
Why Strike Location Matters as Much as Lie
Two swings can produce nearly identical dynamic lie readings and still behave completely differently on the course if one is a center strike and the other is consistently toward the toe. The plate logs exact strike coordinates on every single swing, which is how we catch a pattern the golfer often can't feel yet.
A quarter-inch toe strike, repeated fifty times a round, reads on a spec sheet as a lie angle problem long before most golfers would ever call it one.
How This Changes a Fitting
Instead of bending a lie angle off a single impression on tape, we watch the strike-location and dynamic-lie readout across ten or more swings per club, looking for the pattern rather than reacting to one outlier swing.
